The purpose of this online workshop is to provide Physician Orders for Scope of Treatment (POST) education to clinicians throughout South Carolina. The training includes background information as well as an explanation of each section of the POST form.

This course offers a great way to lead by example and incorporate advance care planning in your organization.

POST is a standardized medical order designed for use as a part of Advance Care Planning (ACP). POST is not an advance directive. It allows patients with a serious illness to choose which medical treatment(s) they want to receive and identify those they do not. 

POST lets the health care provider know a patient's treatment choices and guides their care if they are unable to speak for themself. It turns their wishes into a clear medical order that you, as a member of their health care team, can then follow.

POST is not a one-and-done. Patients change their mind and situations change.
